As you wander through "Collaborative Flow," allow yourself to be swept away by the melodies of creativity, the rhythm of inspiration, and the dance of imagination. Let the music guide your steps and the art speak to your soul, for in this collaborative journey, we discover the true essence of human connection.

Boundless Realm of Creativity

Running until 31 January 2024, the exhibition showcases the talents of 45 artists, including several newcomers who are exhibiting for the first time. This Year-End exhibition is a celebration of creativity, and the indomitable human spirit that drives us to create, innovate, and connect through art. Featuring a total of 71 artworks, each a testament to the diverse and boundless creativity within SCAVA. From paintings and sculptures to mixed media, the collection is a captivating journey into the artistic minds.

Object

Running until 24 January 2024, the Object exhibition forms part of an educational project of the CAP Institute for Contemporary Art Practice, presented by Prof. Elfriede Dreyer, who is affiliated with Unisa as an Extraordinary Professor. The works on exhibition were produced during a workshop (organised by SCAVA and SANAVA) that took place over four days and included assessment of the artists' work; the identification and selection of content for artmaking; and the practical execution of ideas. The theme of Object is concerned with the projection of meaning on the things/objects that surround us, including material culture and objects in nature. The choices of objects regarded interpretations of a doll, jewellery, an old floor brush, a skull, a burnt protea, light, green shoes, maps, trees, a chair, a mirror, a tortoise, a teacup, a statue and sticks. The artists worked with ideas to do with memory, history, culture, nature, psychoanalysis, Romanticism, alchemy, the Anthropocene and identity. They considered different styles and media, and pushed to move their work to a more conceptual level.
